Persons committed to county jail must bear the cost of their own detention, and unpaid jail debts can be certified to the circuit clerk for collection.

The state courts administrator must notify the Department of Revenue and Department of Conservation of individuals delinquent on county jail costs, enabling income tax refund and lottery prize setoffs to collect the debt.

Concealed carry endorsements cannot be issued or renewed to individuals reported as delinquent for unpaid jail costs, and existing endorsements are suspended upon notification of delinquency.

Hunting and fishing licenses cannot be issued to delinquent individuals and are suspended upon notification, until the state courts administrator confirms the debt has been satisfied.

Debtors have 30 days from notice to file a written application with the court for review of delinquency status based on claims that the debt was previously satisfied.
