Candidates for county collector must be at least 21 years old, a resident of the state and county for at least one year before filing, a registered voter, and current on all state income and property taxes.

Candidates for county collector must present a signed affidavit from a surety company authorized to do business in Missouri confirming they meet the statutory bond requirements for the office.

County treasurer candidates must meet the same age, residency, voter registration, and tax payment requirements as collectors, and must also provide a surety company affidavit confirming they meet bond requirements for the office.

Sheriffs, marshals, clerks, collectors, or their deputies are ineligible to serve as county treasurer.
