Expands the definition of "veterans' service organization" to include federally chartered organizations, those recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) nonprofits organized for veteran and dependent burial verification.

Requires funeral establishments and coroners possessing cremated remains to release required information (name, service number, social security number, date of birth, death certificate, etc.) to the Department of Veterans Affairs or veterans' service organizations for eligibility verification.

Allows funeral establishments and coroners to release unclaimed veteran remains to veterans' service organizations for interment after one year of possession and proper notice to next of kin.

Reduces the notice period for claiming remains from four months to one month when notice is published in a newspaper if the person entitled to the remains cannot be located.

Provides liability immunity for funeral establishments, coroners, and veterans' service organizations handling disposition of unclaimed veteran remains if proper procedures and notice requirements are followed.
