Packaged kosher or kosher for Passover food must have a label or symbol affixed by the manufacturer, packer, or certifier identifying who certified the product.

Unpackaged kosher food or packaged food without proper certification must display a sign showing the product description, certifier identity, equipment certification, certification time period (not exceeding 12 months), and dairy designation if applicable.

Businesses selling both kosher and nonkosher meat or poultry must display signage clearly identifying which products are certified kosher, unless items are sold in separate prepackaged containers with kosher labels.

Violation of labeling, signage, or certification requirements is a class B misdemeanor.

Good faith reliance on representations from suppliers, slaughterhouses, manufacturers, or distributors is an affirmative defense to violations of signage and certification requirements.
