Board of curators remains at nine members appointed by the governor with senate consent, with at least one but no more than two from each congressional district and no more than five from any one political party.

Creates a voting student curator position (ninth board member) who can vote on all matters including hiring/firing of the university president, chancellors, general counsel, and board secretary, but is excluded from decisions on hiring/firing faculty or staff.

Student curator must be a full-time graduate or professional student, Missouri resident, appointed beginning January 2014, and serves a two-year term contingent on maintaining student status.

Student curator replaces the existing nonvoting student representative position and is appointed from a panel of three names submitted by student government presidents of the university campuses.

Regular curator terms remain six years with three expiring every two years, while student curator terms are two years as specified in section 172.030.
