Local law enforcement officers in good standing with the Department of Public Safety may assist in investigations or activities outside their jurisdiction upon request of or permission from the State Highway Patrol or the relevant local law enforcement agency, without requiring a multijurisdictional agreement.

Officers assisting outside their jurisdiction have the same powers as they possess within their own jurisdiction during the authorized investigation or activity.

Each request for assistance is limited to a specific current investigation or activity; separate permission is required for participation in any subsequent or additional investigations.

The authorization does not grant continuing general authority for officers to act outside their jurisdiction, does not expand their jurisdictional limitations beyond the specified investigation, and does not supersede existing multijurisdictional agreements.
