Repeals and reenacts section 513.430, RSMo, relating to property exempt from attachment and execution.

Adds new exemption for money held by a debtor as a security deposit for property rented by another individual, which must be returned to the renter in accordance with section 535.300.

Maintains existing exemptions for household items (up to $3,000), jewelry (wedding ring up to $1,500, other jewelry up to $500), motor vehicles (up to $3,000), and professional tools (up to $3,000).

Preserves exemptions for life insurance contracts, retirement plans, Social Security benefits, veteran's benefits, and wrongful death payments to the extent reasonably necessary for support.

Clarifies that retirement plan funds may be subject to qualified domestic relations orders for family law proceedings and that child support claims are not exempt from certain assets.
