Allows salvage dealers, as defined in section 301.010, to issue temporary driveaway license plates valid for one week for transporting vehicles to a highway patrol inspection station.

Driveaway license plates cannot be used by tow truck operators transporting wrecked, disabled, abandoned, improperly parked, or burned vehicles.

Annual driveaway license fee is $44.50 for one set of plates, biennial licenses cost $89, and single trip fees are $4.

Applicants must provide business information, owner identification, financial responsibility certification, a photograph of the business building and sign, and maintain a working landline telephone throughout the registration period.

Violations or misrepresentation in applications result in revocation of the driveaway license plate and denial of any subsequent applications for two years; knowingly using a revoked plate is a class A misdemeanor.
