Health carriers and health benefit plans in Missouri must provide coverage for diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders, effective January 1, 2014

Insurers cannot deny eligibility, deny coverage for residential treatment, or cancel coverage solely based on an individual's eating disorder diagnosis or prior treatment

Coverage must include psychiatric and medical treatment, nutrition counseling, physical therapy, dietician services, medical monitoring, and psychiatric monitoring as prescribed by healthcare professionals

Eating disorder treatment cannot have higher deductibles or co-payments than other health care services under the plan

Bill does not require coverage of mental illness generally and does not apply to supplemental insurance policies, Medicare supplement policies, or short-term major medical policies of six months or less
