Petitions for orders of protection must now be accompanied by a police report detailing the incident that prompted the petition.

Protection orders issued are effective throughout the state in all cities and counties.

Violations of ex parte orders of protection are class A misdemeanors, or class D felonies if the respondent has a prior conviction for violating an order within five years.

Violations of full orders of protection are class A misdemeanors, or class D felonies if the respondent has a prior violation conviction within five years.

Law enforcement officers are immune from civil liability for arrests made in good faith reliance on the domestic violence and protection order provisions of this section.
