All immunization providers must submit vaccination records of adults and children to the Missouri immunization registry beginning January 1, 2015.

Adults, parents of minors, or legal guardians may opt out of the registry by completing an opt-out form, and providers shall not submit records for those who opt out.

Only immunization providers can submit, update, and amend vaccination records; all other authorized users have read-only access to the registry.

The registry serves to improve immunization rates, eliminate duplicate vaccinations, ensure proper timing of immunizations per Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations, reduce over-vaccination costs, and provide access during disease outbreaks.

Immunization providers unable to electronically submit data by January 1, 2015 must submit a compliance plan to the department by March 31, 2015, with violations subject to license sanctions and civil penalties.
