Maintains the fifty-cent fee per new tire charged by retailers at the point of sale, collected after applicable sales taxes

Tire retailers retain 6 percent of collected fees as compensation for collection costs, with remaining fees transferred to the solid waste management fund

Fee revenue funds tire removal from illegal dumps, grants for waste tire products and fuel uses, and resource recovery activities, with up to 50 percent available for program administration

Up to 5 percent of revenue may be allocated to develop environmental educational materials and curriculum in cooperation with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
