MO HB2026

Requires employers to grant employees who are parents or legal guardians up to 8 hours of unpaid leave per child per academic year to attend academic activities such as parent-teacher conferences, tutoring, or other school-related events.

Allows employers to require leave be taken in increments of no more than 3 hours and to request written verification from the school or district of the academic activity.

Requires employees to provide 7 or more days' advance notice to employers, or as soon as possible in emergencies, and permits employees to substitute accrued paid leave for the unpaid leave.

Allows employers to deny leave only if granting it would disrupt the business, cause unusual difficulty, or endanger public safety or welfare.

Prohibits employers from discharging, threatening, or discriminating against employees regarding compensation, terms, conditions, or employment privileges based on requesting or taking leave under this section.
