Fire protection districts authorized to provide emergency ambulance services may now also provide nonemergency or general ambulance transportation services in addition to emergency services.

Fire protection districts providing nonemergency or general ambulance transportation services must charge fees sufficient to cover the costs associated with providing those services.

Fire protection districts providing nonemergency or general ambulance transportation services have the same powers and duties as they do for fire protection and emergency ambulance services.

Counties, cities, towns, villages, and fire protection districts authorized to provide emergency ambulance service may acquire, operate, and maintain ambulance vehicles and contract for ambulance operations and emergency treatment.

The retroactive authorization allows fire protection districts previously authorized by voters to provide emergency ambulance services, as well as those authorized after the effective date, to provide nonemergency or general ambulance transportation services.
