Designates September 7-13, 2014 as "W.C. Handy Week" in Missouri to honor composer W.C. Handy, known as the "Father of the Blues"

Recognizes W.C. Handy's contributions to American music, including composing over 80 hymns, marches, and blues songs that brought blues into mainstream music

Highlights Handy's major works including "St. Louis Blues" (published 1914), "The Memphis Blues," "Beale Street Blues," and "Yellow Dog Blues"

Acknowledges the unveiling of a life-size bronze statue of W.C. Handy in front of the National Blues Museum in downtown St. Louis and the fall 2014 premiere of documentary "Mr. Handy's Blues"

Directs the House Chief Clerk to provide an inscribed copy of the resolution to the W.C. Handy Memorial Foundation
