Agriculture is Missouri's largest industry, contributing over $12 billion directly to the state with total economic impact exceeding $31 billion and employing approximately 250,000 people.

Missouri ranks second nationally in number of farms and beef livestock production, making it one of the leading agricultural states.

The 2008 Farm Bill expired September 30, 2012, followed by a one-year extension that expired September 30, 2013, leaving the agricultural sector without long-term policy guidance.

A comprehensive five-year Farm Bill is necessary to provide price stability, offset rising input costs like feed and fuel, ensure market stability, guarantee adequate food supply, and allow farmers to make informed production decisions.

Directs the Missouri House Chief Clerk to send inscribed copies of this resolution to U.S. Senate and House leadership and all Missouri Congressional delegation members.
