Firearm owners must report lost or stolen firearms within 24 hours of becoming aware of the loss or theft to local law enforcement in the city, town, village, or county sheriff's office where the loss occurred.

First failure to report a lost or stolen firearm is an infraction punishable by a fine of $1,000.

Second or subsequent failures to report a lost or stolen firearm are classified as a class A misdemeanor.

Concealed carry permit holders who fail to immediately pay a fine upon adjudication must surrender their permit, which will be suspended for one calendar year.

Any person who fails to immediately pay a fine upon adjudication becomes ineligible to obtain a concealed carry permit for one calendar year, with the court notifying the sheriff's office in the person's county of residence.
