Sewer districts established under Missouri law may impose an annual fee not to exceed $50 per year for repairs to lateral sewer service lines on residential property with six or fewer dwelling units, subject to voter approval.

The fee cannot be imposed on property within cities, towns, villages, or unincorporated county areas that already impose a fee under section 249.422.

Repairs funded by the fee must include all defective portions of the lateral sewer service line from the residential structure to its connection with the public sewer system.

Condominiums with six or fewer units per building are subject to the fee, with each unit responsible for its proportionate share, and individual units with their own lateral lines treated as separate residences.

Funds collected through the fee must be deposited in a special account used solely for administering and paying costs of lateral sewer service line repairs, with all interest accrued to the account.
