Beginning January 1, 2016, all high school students in public, charter, and private schools (except private trade schools) and GED candidates must pass a civics test to graduate

The required test uses the same 100 questions from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalization exam, with a passing score of 70 correct answers

Students may retake the test unlimited times until achieving a passing score

Schools and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education must certify student compliance with the testing requirement

Removes the previous requirement that students pass an examination on the U.S. and Missouri constitutions as a graduation condition, replacing it with the standardized USCIS civics test
