School districts and charter schools may incorporate age-appropriate dating abuse education into health curriculum for grades 7-12, covering the definition of dating abuse, warning signs, and characteristics of healthy relationships.

Schools electing to offer this curriculum must seek input from local domestic violence organizations on the content to be taught.

Parents or guardians of students under 18 may submit a written request to the principal to review instructional materials within a reasonable timeframe.

"Dating abuse" is defined as a pattern of behavior where one person uses or threatens physical, sexual, verbal, or emotional abuse to control a dating partner.

Participation is optional for school districts—the bill authorizes but does not mandate this curriculum addition.
