General Assembly members first serving on or after January 1, 2017, must pay 100% of their health insurance premiums with no state contribution, including for retiree health insurance

New legislators (post-January 1, 2017) are ineligible for state-provided life insurance benefits based on legislative service, though they may purchase optional coverage at their own expense

Disability income benefits are eliminated for General Assembly members first serving on or after January 1, 2017, with an option to purchase coverage at full personal cost

Retirement benefits under the state pension system are eliminated for General Assembly members first serving on or after January 1, 2017

Retirees who return to serve in the General Assembly after January 1, 2017, cannot receive annuity payments during months of legislative service and cannot accrue additional pension benefits
