Licensed educators may complete up to 2 hours annually of youth suicide awareness and prevention training as part of required professional development hours, beginning in the 2016-2017 school year

Department of Elementary and Secondary Education must develop guidelines and materials for suicide awareness and prevention training

Each school district must adopt a youth suicide awareness and prevention policy by July 1, 2017, covering identification of at-risk students, strategies for helping them, and protocols for responding to suicide deaths

Department must develop a model policy by July 1, 2016, consulting with organizations that have expertise in youth suicide prevention

Department must request feedback from districts on their policy implementation by July 1, 2020, and at least every three years thereafter, posting relevant non-confidential information on its website
