Beginning January 1, 2016, all high school students in public, charter, and private schools (except private trade schools) and GED candidates must pass a civics test to graduate

The test uses the same 100 questions from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services naturalization exam, requiring at least 60 correct answers to pass

Students may retake the test unlimited times until they achieve a passing score

Removes the existing requirement that students pass an examination on the U.S. and Missouri constitutions as a condition of graduation

Schools and the department of education must certify student compliance with the testing requirement
