Establishes an 11-member Task Force on School Safety Improvement within the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, with members appointed by the commissioner

Task force membership includes criminal defense attorneys, community organizations, law enforcement representatives, local government officials, school administrators, parents, postsecondary educators, school board members, and teachers

Task force may meet no more than four times annually; members may receive expense reimbursement but no per diem allowance

Required to study school security features and crisis prevention practices, actions to reduce loss of life and property damage during crises, and curriculum for grades 7-12 on the criminal justice system and law enforcement careers

Must evaluate the need for appointing a director of school safety in counties with charter government and more than 950,000 inhabitants (St. Louis County)
