Members who meet retirement eligibility requirements under sections 104.080, 104.100, 104.401, 104.1024, 104.1033, or 104.1084 but die before applying shall be considered to have retired and died on the first of the month following their death

Deceased eligible members shall be treated as having elected "Option 3" survivor benefits, with remaining payments distributed per section 104.620

Exception applies when the deceased member has a surviving spouse or children under 21 years of age, in which case standard survivor benefit provisions take precedence

Implementation date set for on or after August 28, 2015
