Hair braiders must register with the State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners for a fee of no more than $25, though this registration does not authorize the board to regulate the practice

The board must develop a brochure on infection control techniques appropriate for hair braiding, which hair braiders must complete (including a self-test) and keep available at their work location

Board representatives may visit hair braiding facilities during business hours to verify the brochure and completed self-test are available on premises

Licensed cosmetologists remain permitted to perform hair braiding services under their existing licenses
