Served as Chief of Staff for the Danforth Special Counsel Investigation into the 1993 Waco siege and as Chief of Staff to three U.S. Ambassadors to the United Nations, where he helped uncover the "Oil for Food" scandal

Held positions at the State Department including Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and U.S. Coordinator for Counternarcotics and Justice Reform in Afghanistan

As State Auditor, his office uncovered more than 30 corrupt government officials embezzling millions in taxpayer dollars and identified tens of millions in waste and abuse in state and local government
