Licensed educators may annually complete up to two hours of youth suicide awareness and prevention training as part of their required professional development hours, beginning in the 2016-2017 school year

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education must develop guidelines and materials for suicide awareness and prevention training

Each school district must adopt a youth suicide awareness and prevention policy by July 1, 2017, addressing identification of at-risk students, protocols for helping those students, and protocols for responding to a suicide death

The Department must develop a model policy by July 1, 2016, in consultation with organizations having expertise in youth suicide prevention

Beginning July 1, 2020, and every three years thereafter, the Department must collect feedback from districts on their suicide prevention policies and post relevant non-confidential information on its website
