County office holders in nonchartered counties would receive mandatory 5% salary increases at the beginning of each term starting in 2016, continuing until maximum allowable compensation is reached, unless the salary commission votes to disapprove the increases

Sheriff salary minimums would increase significantly based on assessed valuation, ranging from $55,000 (for counties with $18-41 million assessed valuation) up to $140,000 (for counties over $1.35 billion), compared to current minimums of $36,000-$64,000

Maximum allowable sheriff compensation would be capped at no more than twice the salary amounts specified in the new schedule, effective 2016

Salary commission meeting schedule changes from every odd-numbered year starting in 1989 to every even-numbered year starting in 2016

If the salary commission fails to meet or reach agreement by December 15, current compensation continues except that the mandatory 5% minimum increases would still apply under the new provisions
