Licensed child care facilities caring for infants under one year old must implement and maintain written safe sleep policies following American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations to reduce risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and sudden unexpected infant deaths

All employees and volunteers caring for infants under one year old must complete department-approved safe sleep training every three years

Facilities must follow written instructions from an infant's licensed health care provider if alternative sleep positions or arrangements are medically required

Department of Health and Senior Services must promulgate rules prohibiting soft or loose bedding in sleep environments, including bumper pads, pillows, quilts, blankets, and sleep positioning devices

Declared an emergency act, taking effect immediately upon passage and approval rather than following standard implementation timeline
