Peace officers licensed after August 28, 2020, employed by political subdivisions in charter counties or St. Louis City must complete a minimum of 1,000 hours of basic training at a nationally accredited training facility

Reserve officers in charter counties with more than 950,000 inhabitants must work alongside a full-time commissioned officer at all times while performing enforcement duties

The POST commission may grant annual waivers to the accompaniment requirement upon written request from a law enforcement agency

Standard basic training requirements for peace officer licensure remain between 470 and 600 hours, with existing exceptions for state law enforcement (up to 1,000 hours) and reserve officers (as few as 120 hours)
