Reduces penalties for concealed carry violations in churches, election precincts, government buildings, and schools from class D felony to class D misdemeanor, unless the prosecutor determines a lesser charge or no charge is appropriate

Reduces the penalty for possessing a concealed dangerous or deadly weapon on a bus from a class D felony to a class A misdemeanor

Maintains existing penalty structure for other weapons offenses, including class B felony for shooting from a motor vehicle (class A felony if injury or death results)

Effective date set for January 1, 2017
