School districts and charter schools must provide annual in-person training by July 1, 2017 on preventing child abuse and neglect, recognizing warning signs, and understanding mandatory reporting obligations under section 210.115

Training must cover risk factors for abuse, warning signs of victimization, internal procedures for seeking assistance including referrals to counselors or mental health professionals, and methods for reducing a child's risk of abuse

Training for schools must be provided at no cost by community organizations or nonprofit entities with relevant, research-based training programs

Licensed child care facility employees must complete department-approved annual in-person training on child abuse prevention and awareness beginning January 1, 2017

Mandatory reporters are required to directly and immediately report suspected abuse, supervisors cannot impede reporting, and reporters are protected from sanctions or adverse employment actions
