Beginning July 1, 2017, Highway Patrol employee compensation and expenses would no longer be funded from the State Highways and Transportation Department Fund, shifting instead to general revenue or other applicable sources

Licensed highway patrol officers under chapter 590 and highway patrol communications personnel are exempt from this change and would continue receiving compensation from the transportation fund

Amends Section 226.200, RSMo, which governs the State Highways and Transportation Department Fund that collects revenue from motor vehicle fees, license taxes, and motor fuel taxes

Builds on existing 2007 restrictions that already prohibited non-traffic enforcement highway patrol activities from being funded by the transportation fund
