School districts and charter schools may incorporate age-appropriate dating abuse education into health curriculum for grades 7-12, covering the definition of dating abuse, warning signs, and characteristics of healthy relationships

Schools that choose to include this curriculum must seek input from local domestic violence organizations on the material to be taught

Parents or guardians of students under 18 may submit a written request to the principal to review the dating abuse instructional materials

"Dating abuse" is defined as a pattern of behavior using or threatening physical, sexual, verbal, or emotional abuse to control a dating partner

Participation by school districts is voluntary, not mandatory
