Missouri Senate declares Mary Kogut and Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri (PPSLR) in contempt for refusing to comply with a November 24, 2015 subpoena duces tecum issued by the Senate Interim Committee on the Sanctity of Life

The subpoena sought documents from January 1, 2010 onward relating to disposal of fetal remains, tissue transfer policies, contracts with pathology laboratories, emergency incidents, and informed consent procedures

PPSLR objected to the subpoena on December 4, 2015 and indicated it would not produce documents; the Senate Rules Committee determined these objections were without merit

Under Article III, Section 18 of the Missouri Constitution, the General Assembly may punish contempt by fines up to $300 or imprisonment up to 10 days, or both

Ms. Kogut is summoned to appear before the Senate on April 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. to show cause why she should not be punished for contempt
