HB 8 - Department of Public Safety Appropriations (FY 2021-2022)

• Appropriates $970.9 million total to the Department of Public Safety and related agencies for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022, funded from General Revenue, Federal, and Other Funds.

• Allocates major funding to State Highway Patrol ($257+ million), Missouri Veterans' Commission and Homes ($131+ million), Gaming Commission ($17+ million), and State Emergency Management Agency ($133+ million).

• Includes $172.8 million in one-time appropriations from State Emergency Management Federal Stimulus Fund for COVID-19 response expenses by any state agency.

• Establishes funding for crime prevention programs, law enforcement support, victims' services, firefighter benefits, and National Guard activities, with various 3-5% flexibility provisions between sections.

• Requires public flight tracking for any state aircraft carrying elected officials and limits federal grant administrative costs to 5% of grant amounts or applicable guidelines.
