Amends Sections 192.260 and 205.100, RSMo, to authorize county commissions to appoint an interim county health officer when a vacancy occurs or the incumbent is not reappointed

County commissions may appoint a licensed physician as county health officer for one-year terms, with compensation paid from the county treasury

Public health center directors are appointed as county health officers annually at the February county commission meeting

County commissions are not required to appoint a county health officer; appointment remains optional
