Fire protection district boards may distribute surplus or unneeded supplies and property to volunteer fire protection associations, other fire protection districts, fire departments, and eligible donees under federal surplus property program rules

Surplus property may also be distributed to 501(c)(3) nonprofits or public service corporations that provide training in search and recovery, water rescue, ice rescue, or watercraft operation to fire departments, EMTs, or police officers

Surplus property not transferred to eligible organizations may be sold to the general public through auction or sealed bid

Board members, officers, employees, and their relatives within the fourth degree of kinship are prohibited from receiving donated or purchased surplus property unless sold through an online auction platform approved by the Missouri Office of Administration
