AI systems are declared non-sentient under Missouri state law and cannot be granted legal personhood, consciousness, or self-awareness status

AI systems cannot marry humans or other AI systems, serve as corporate officers or directors, or own property of any kind including real estate, intellectual property, and financial accounts

Owners and users bear responsibility for harm caused by AI systems; developers and manufacturers may be liable for design defects but not for user misuse absent negligence

Courts may pierce the corporate veil when AI-related subsidiaries are intentionally undercapitalized to evade damages or when corporate structures obscure liability for AI-caused harm

Effective date is August 28, 2026 for all AI systems developed, owned, deployed, or operated in Missouri
