Beginning January 1, 2027, owners of motor vehicles with a model year less than six years old may opt for a five-year registration period, excluding commercial motor vehicles over 54,000 pounds gross weight

Five-year registration fees consist of the annual registration fee plus a pro rata amount for the additional four years

Fee office agents may collect $45 for five-year motor vehicle registrations and $45 for permanent trailer registrations, compared to $9 for annual and $18 for biennial registrations

The director of revenue may issue five-year tabs as evidence of registration payment in lieu of plates for those electing the five-year option

Removes the requirement that vehicles be renewed based on odd/even model year matching odd/even calendar years for biennial registration
