Courts may order additional parenting time to compensate a parent when court-ordered parenting time has been denied

Courts shall order compensatory parenting time when denial resulted from investigations by agencies (such as the Children's Division) or protective/restraining orders that did not result in findings of abuse or neglect, unless good cause is shown

Compensatory parenting time must match the same type and duration as the denied time and must be completed within 2 years of the court's determination

The parent who was denied parenting time may select the times and dates for the additional parenting time, subject to the child's best interests

Does not create a cause of action against investigative agencies or waive sovereign immunity for government entities or employees
