Teachers in Missouri school districts and charter schools may intervene in violent incidents to protect themselves or students while performing their duties

Teachers receive immunity from liability when intervening if they follow school district procedures or act in good faith with reasonable belief their actions are justified under Missouri's justification defense laws (Chapter 563)

School districts and charter schools also receive immunity from liability for teacher interventions, provided the teacher complies with the section's requirements

Immunity does not apply to actions caused by willful and wanton misconduct or gross negligence by the teacher

School districts and charter schools are prohibited from implementing policies that prevent teachers from protecting themselves or students
