Health carriers and health benefit plans in Missouri must provide coverage for annual kidney function screening services to identify patients at risk for chronic kidney disease, effective August 28, 2026

Required covered screenings include glomerular filtration rate testing, basic metabolic panel testing, and urine testing for albumin and creatinine levels

Exemptions apply to supplemental insurance policies including life care contracts, accident-only policies, specified disease policies, fixed daily benefit hospital policies, Medicare supplement policies, long-term care policies, and short-term major medical policies of six months or less

The Director of the Department of Commerce and Insurance may determine additional supplemental policies exempt from these requirements
