Restaurants in Missouri must provide written notification of major food allergens (milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, sesame, and soybeans) contained in each menu item

Allergen information may be displayed directly on menus or through digital formats such as QR codes, with restaurants required to provide alternative methods (allergen charts, booklets, or separate menus) for customers unable to access digital information

Restaurants must use either common allergen names or standardized pictograms to communicate allergen presence

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will enforce the requirements through visual verification or other reasonable compliance methods, with authority to seek injunctions against violators

Prepackaged foods already subject to federal allergen labeling requirements under 21 U.S.C. Section 343 are exempt from the new state requirements
