Proposes a constitutional amendment to be placed on the November 2026 general election ballot requiring each county to elect a sheriff for four-year terms by majority vote

Designates the elected sheriff as the chief law enforcement officer in the county, with duties including suppressing riots and disturbances, apprehending felons, attending circuit court, and executing court processes

Grants sheriffs authority to hire and appoint deputies, assistants, and employees at will and set their compensation within budget allocations

Restricts removal of elected sheriffs to only a writ of quo warranto initiated by the attorney general

Exempts from these requirements: any city not within a county (St. Louis City), charter counties adjacent to such a city (St. Louis County), and charter counties with population over 400,000 adjacent to counties with population over 900,000
