Commissioned investigators receive full peace officer arrest powers to maintain order and preserve peace in matters where the attorney general is appointed or assigned by law

Commissioned investigators must take an oath of office, receive a certificate of appointment filed with the secretary of state, and comply with all peace officer standards required by chapter 590

The attorney general may withdraw a commissioned investigator's certificate of appointment at any time and may authorize commissioned investigators to assist other law enforcement agencies upon request
