Establishes court-ordered assisted outpatient treatment for adults 18+ with mental illness who will not voluntarily seek treatment and cannot make informed decisions about their care

Petitions may be filed by mental health facility directors, treating physicians, guardians, or state/local health agencies when the individual's treatment noncompliance has twice resulted in civil detention within the past 36 months or has resulted in violent behavior toward self or others

Treatment orders last up to 2 years and may include case management, medication management, therapy, substance use treatment, and housing/employment assistance, with a master's-level mental health professional developing and monitoring the treatment plan

Hearings must occur within 2 judicial days of filing, with respondents entitled to attorney representation, jury trial option, and clear and convincing evidence standard of proof

Noncompliance with treatment orders may result in hospitalization for up to 10 days without a hearing (or up to 90 days with community mental health center recommendation), and the Office of State Courts Administrator must submit annual reports to the legislature on treatment outcomes
