Public school staff must notify parents within 24 hours if a minor student requests to socially transition, including requests to use different pronouns, names, restrooms, or participate in sports teams designated for the opposite biological sex.

Staff are prohibited from facilitating a student's social transition, delivering lessons on gender or social transition, or using pronouns/names that don't correspond to a student's biological sex and legal name.

Staff and students cannot be disciplined for declining to use a person's preferred pronouns or name that differs from their biological sex or legal name, or for refusing to identify their own pronouns.

Licensed teachers who knowingly violate these provisions face mandatory disciplinary proceedings, including potential suspension or revocation of their teaching license and termination of employment.

Parents may sue staff members, school districts, or public schools for violations and recover court costs, attorney's fees, and damages; the attorney general may also bring civil actions for injunctive relief against violators.
