Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, parents of children ages seven through compulsory attendance age may direct state education aid to a qualified school of their choice outside their resident district

Qualified schools include charter schools, private schools, public schools, and public or private virtual schools that are incorporated in Missouri and do not discriminate based on race, color, or national origin

State aid transferred equals the lesser of the state adequacy target for the student or the tuition amount at the chosen qualified school

School districts must transmit parent choice forms to the state treasurer and notify the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education within seven days; the treasurer must remit funds within thirty days

Students enrolled in qualified schools outside their resident district will not be counted in that district's weighted average daily attendance for state and federal aid calculations
